System requirements
One standard for every packing table, anywhere in the world. Most stores already have everything except a good webcam. After setup, run Settings › Station check on the recorder, it tests the PC, browser, camera, scanner and folder against this list.
Packing PC
| Minimum | Recommended |
| Operating system | Windows 10 · macOS 12 · ChromeOS | Windows 11 · macOS 14 or newer |
| Browser | Chrome or Edge 122+ | Latest Chrome or Edge (Safari and Firefox can’t save to a folder) |
| Processor | 2 cores (Intel Core i3 6th gen / AMD Ryzen 3) | 4+ cores (Intel Core i5 8th gen+ / Ryzen 5 / Apple M1+) |
| Memory | 4 GB | 8 GB or more |
| Screen | 1366 × 768 | 1920 × 1080 |
| USB ports | 2 free (camera + scanner) | USB 3 for the camera, or a powered hub |
| Internet | Needed to open the packing screen and sign in | Any stable connection (1 Mbps is enough, videos are not uploaded) |
On a 2-core PC use HD and Standard quality. A recording that keeps up is more useful than a sharper one that drops frames.
Camera
| Minimum | Recommended |
| Type | USB webcam that works without a driver (UVC). Laptop cameras work only as a temporary fallback. |
| Resolution | 1280 × 720 (HD) | 1920 × 1080 (Full HD), small shipping labels stay readable |
| Frame rate | 15 fps | 30 fps capable (Find Packing records at 15) |
| Focus | Fixed focus | Autofocus, with manual focus available (lets you lock focus on the table) |
| Field of view | 60° | 78° or wider, the whole table in one picture |
| Mount | Overhead arm, gooseneck or clamp, 60–80 cm above the table looking straight down. Standard 1/4" tripod thread. |
| Examples | Logitech C270 (HD, fixed focus, not for small labels) | Logitech C920 / C922 / C930e, Logitech Brio 300 / 500, Razer Kiyo, Anker PowerConf C200 or any 1080p autofocus UVC webcam |
Barcode scanner
| Minimum | Recommended |
| Connection | USB or Bluetooth in keyboard (HID) mode, sending Enter after each code, the factory default on almost all scanners |
| Reader type | 1D laser or linear imager | 2D area imager, reads small, dense, wrinkled and on-screen barcodes, plus QR codes |
| Hands-free | Handheld | Stand / presentation mode so both hands stay on the box |
| Keyboard language | The scanner must use the same keyboard layout as the PC (e.g. US English). A mismatch turns “-” or letters into other characters, Station check catches this. |
| Examples | Any USB HID scanner | Zebra DS2208, Honeywell Voyager 1470g / 1472g, Datalogic QuickScan QD2500 or similar 2D imagers |
Storage
| Quality setting | Per minute | 100 packages × 1.5 min per day | Days on 1 TB |
| Standard (HD) | ≈ 9 MB | ≈ 1.3 GB | ≈ 780 |
| High (Full HD), default | ≈ 29 MB | ≈ 4.2 GB | ≈ 240 |
| Max (Full HD) | ≈ 45 MB | ≈ 6.6 GB | ≈ 155 |
Use an external SSD/HDD or a NAS folder rather than the PC’s system drive. Turn on “Pause when nothing moves” to save 20–40%. Keep a second copy (another drive, or a cloud-sync folder), videos exist only where you save them.
Packing table
- Light: bright, even light from above (about 500 lux, a normal office). No window or lamp behind the camera.
- Surface: plain, non-shiny surface; keep the label facing up toward the camera when you scan it.
- Space: the whole box, the label and your hands inside the picture.
- One PC per table. Each table can have its own camera and scanner; all tables share one plan.
