Setup guide

About five minutes per packing table.

1. Equipment

Full list: system requirements. After step 3, run Settings › Station check on the packing screen.

ItemWhat works
PCWindows or Mac with Chrome or Edge. Any PC from the last 5–6 years is fine.
WebcamUSB webcam with autofocus, 1080p (e.g. Logitech C920 / C922 / Brio; C270 for a tight budget). Find Packing picks the USB camera before a laptop camera.
Barcode scannerAny USB or Bluetooth scanner in “keyboard” mode that adds Enter after the code (the default on almost all). A hands-free stand scanner keeps both hands on the box.
StorageAn external drive or NAS folder. 100 packages a day ≈ 1–2 GB a day at HD.

2. Camera placement

  1. Mount the camera 60–80 cm above the table, looking straight down (a gooseneck or overhead stand).
  2. Make sure the whole box and the label fit in the picture. Use digital zoom in Settings if the table is small.
  3. Light from above, not behind the camera, so the label isn’t in shadow.

3. Sign in on the packing PC

  1. On the packing PC open findpacking.com in Chrome or Edge and log in (or create a free account).
  2. Press Open recorder. In Settings give the PC a name (e.g. “Table 1”) so the log shows which table recorded each parcel.
  3. Allow the camera, then Choose folder. In Chrome choose “Allow on every visit” so it doesn’t ask again.

4. Test the scanner

  1. Recorder › Settings › Scan test. Scan a shipping label, it should say “accepted as AWB”.
  2. If product barcodes are accepted as labels by mistake, raise the minimum AWB length (default 8).
  3. Print the command barcodes (Record screen › Print command barcodes) and stick them on the table.

5. Pack

  1. Scan the label → recording starts (voice says “Recording”).
  2. Pack in front of the camera.
  3. Scan the same label again, or the STOP barcode → saved as AWB_time.mp4 in today’s folder.
Tip: choose the mode that matches your table, “Continuous” if every package is scanned in order, “Label at the end” if labels are printed after packing, “Returns” for the returns desk.

6. Find a video

On the packing PC open Video List, scan or type the tracking number, then Save copy to send it to the customer or marketplace. Each day’s folder also has packing-log.csv that opens in Excel.

7. Back up

Videos live only on your storage. Use an external drive or NAS, or point a cloud-sync folder (Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox desktop app) at the save folder if you want an off-site copy.
